Elliot Patterson

In 1984 saw the rise of a talented young DJ who started off with splicing tape deck recordings together using a home made mixer. Finding his feet playing alongside then Sweet Beat partner Chris Baxter at the Soul 2 Soul Blues parties, Perth Road, London with artists such as Jazzie B.
His work has taken given him international status playing in some of the best clubs across the globe - The Cross, Ministry of Sound, Fabric, Pacha (London), Hangar (Istanbul), Circle (Los Angeles), Mount (Australia), Block Party (Brooklyn) and much MUCH more....

His first ever release was "Supersonic" which was released with Charles Eve. Further working with BMG to produce his first album is set for release in late 2007. We asked him what his influences for his production are and where he is heading.

SP.. So how did you start off as a DJ?

EP.. Age 12, I heard a dj Froggie broadcasting on a pirate radio mixing records, wondering how he did it. I thought how to do it using two tape machines using no pitch control. The tunes had to be spot on tempo wise. Played at school parties as I was already buying vinyl at that age...

SP.. Who where your early influences when you progressed to producing your own records?

EP.. My early influences being Paul 'Trouble' Anderson, Tony Humphries, Masters At Work and Erik Morillo.

SP.. What are you up to at the moment apart from producing your new album?

EP.. I am currently working with Opium Soul, which is a collective of djs, producers and like-minded music creative’s based in Hong Kong. Touring nightclubs accrorss the planet and spending as much time as possible in the studio...

SP.. An hour a day keeps the label boss away?

EP.. Exactly!

SP.. We had a copy of Touch magazine floating around the office last year and I seem to remember it having a cover mount mix CD from Tim Westwood. Now I know he didn't do that mix. I think it was you? wasn't it.

EP.. (no comment).
